IB unit “Who we are” Understanding our personal culture

The Central Idea for the first IB unit “Who we are” is “Understanding our personal culture can help us learn more about ourselves”. We are learning about cultural heritage and its effect on cultural identity. Children have already completed a range of tasks: looked into traditional clothes, food, songs, tales, languages specific to the chosen region; identified reasons for the growing cultural globalisation; learned about the symbols/iconic places of the chosen cultural region. For their art work, the children used Pointillism technique – the practice of applying small strokes or dots of colour to a surface so that from a distance they visually blend together.
