IB unit “How the world works“. Curious Minds at Work: First Graders Explore Life Cycles
2025 March 4th Grade 1

Our first graders dove into the fascinating world of life cycles. They explored how different living organisms grow and change over time — including the bean, oak tree, butterfly, ladybug, frog, and human.

Through videos, encyclopedia research, and lively class discussions, students uncovered some surprising facts — such as how seeds can sprout without soil, as long as there is warmth and moisture. To deepen their understanding, they carried out an experiment called “Hidden Sprout”, offering a hands-on look at the germination process.

In a creative twist, the students crafted butterflies from toilet paper rolls and paper, each featuring a unique wing design of their own invention.

Our young inquirers engaged enthusiastically in each activity, sparking curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the natural world around them.
