IB unit “Where We Are in Place and Time”.

The 1st-grade students completed the inquiry topic titled 'Where We Are in Place and Time.' To start, each child creatively illustrated their family members, sharing with their classmates the unique composition of their households. This interactive exercise not only fostered creativity but also encouraged the students to express and celebrate the diversity within their families. They enthusiastically delved into search and exploration of their family traditions, important events, and places. Children communicated and collaborated with their parents, collected information about significant family events, and depicted them on a timeline in chronological order.
In a delightful culmination of their efforts, family members joined together for a heartwarming cookie decorating evening. This shared experience provided a unique platform for building warm relationships . The collective impact of these activities was profound, leaving an indelible mark on the students. Through the exploration of their family narratives and the exchange of stories, the 1st-grade students not only gained a deeper understanding of their own identities but also developed an appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of their classmates.
