IB unit “Where We Are in Place and Time”. My Family History.

Inquiring this IB unit, the 1st graders were interested in their family, relatives, family  history and traditions. The students contemplated on the significance and importance of their families. Having discussed  the diversity of families, the students  realised that we all express love for our families in different ways.

What is more, with the help of their parents, the children collected information about the most significant events in their families and used it to create a timeline of their family key events. It was truly captivating to see the students proudly presenting their timelines to their classmates.

Additionally, as a part of this inquiry unit, students acquired the skill of creating bar charts to visually represent data collected on the ways they spend time with their families.

To conclude, the  1st graders  collected information on specific aspects of both their own and one of their parents' childhoods, undertaking a comparison through the completion of a comparative diagram.
