IB unit "Who We Are"

The 1st graders inquiring the transdisciplinary theme WHO WE ARE learnt about the importance of friendship, what makes a true friend and how to become one. Also, they explored the elements of successful communication among friends, adults and people speaking different languages. Having created their self-portraits, the students were invited to discuss them and find out what personal qualities help nurture friendships. In order to improve communication skills and understand each other better as well as find new friends at school, the 1st graders joined the other primary year students and a pre-school group to participate in a range of engaging and friendship-promoting activities like games, teamwork, a trip to “Malūnas” Park along with some educational events. The final two activities encompassed the summing up of the social aspects of communication with friends as well as adults and the formation of the classroom agreements.
