IB unit "Who We Are": Our Behaviour and Relationships with Others.

As part of the International Baccalaureate theme "Who We Are," our first-grade students shared various information about themselves, their hobbies and listened to presentations from their classmates. They also reflected on the importance of friendship while discussing what makes a true friend and the qualities they value in one. Students were introduced to the concept and principles of effective communication and explored social behaviour and communication norms. During hands - on activities, they demonstrated their artistic abilities by drawing self-portraits and portraits of their families. To develop their communication skills and deepen their understanding of each other, students engaged in various social and emotional skills development activities: they played various types of games, worked in groups, and participated in an educational excursion to the Curonian Spit. At the end of the unit, 1st graders created class agreements and a "kindness words" glossary.
