IB: "Where we are in place and time"

Potatoe! Here is the start of our investigation! For many fourth-graders, the study of "Where we are in time and place" began strangely and intriguingly. We took a look at the potato, touched it and even tried to peel off.  Then students discussed and told their thoughts about this well-known vegetable.

     We had such a heavy "rain of thoughts" - where did the potatoes came from to Lithuania, who discovered them, who helped and how the potatoes reached the Europe, what can we make from these vegetables, what are the varieties of potatoes.

     The "mind map" helped to clarify what discoveries / inventions humanity had to face before the potatoes came to our daily table. That's how our investigation started with the central idea - "New discovery or invention may lead to a new understanding of our world." View the photo gallery
