Let's meet the Baltic jewellery

2020 October 16th, 5th grade students attended the educational session "Let's meet the Baltic jewellery". The aim of education is to deepen the knowledge of Lithuanian cultural heritage and to develop students' abilities to learn history. During the session, the students learned about the technologies of old jewellery and the variety of white jewelry from the restorer Dionysas Varkalis. He also got acquainted with the profession of a goldsmith, learned to recognize gemstones. Dionyzas Varkalis is an active public figure of the port city, a creator, a master of metal plastics, a collector of fine metal and ceramic works, and the founder of the Blacksmith Museum. Not only did the students listen to an interesting story, but they also actively participated in finding answers to the given tasks that required logical thinking, and learned to distinguish a valuable gem from a counterfeit one. All the students who took part in this educational trip were enriched with new knowledge and experiences.
